Does Tea Expire?
YES, but it depends.
The Zen’s Tea House position on tea expiration is “it depends. If the tea is stored in a cool, dry place, then it will last for at least a couple of years.” One of the reasons that Zen’s Tea House tea is recognized as having higher quality tea is that we sell our tea within a few weeks of receiving our shipments. Time is a factor. Our advice is to try to infuse your tea with newer, fresher teas. Tea blending is a great way to utilize tea that is below standard.
Have some concerns?
For thousands of years tea connoisseurs have sought to prevent their tea from going bad. Often prolonged exposure to light, excessive amounts of heat & air are the most common factors leading to expired tea. Teas like Puerh & Golden Milk have a much longer life span the traditional Green teas. Would you like more information? Watch the video below.
Over the years, Zen’s Tea House has set aside aged teas for personal use, and they all age differently. Some teas are thrown out while others are cherished and celebrated.
The most well-aged teas that have virtually no expiration date are Organic Pu-Erh Green Tea. Click below to try. Below you can see a video of how many times this aged tea can be brewed.
