Houjicha is a traditional Japanese roasted green tea and is low in caffeine. It is often made from the last harvest of the season. Unlike other Japanese green teas, Houjicha is roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal; most Japanese teas are steamed.

Houjicha is great!

This is a delicious tea. My husband, the coffee drinker, has taken a liking to it. He thinks that our previous order had more of a roasted flavor than this current batch. Nevertheless, we are really enjoying it.

Mild flavor

I’ve tasted this tea before, and I would say this is a much more mild flavor than what I’m used to. I’m a fan of this tea, but I long for a more robust taste.
