Milk thistle, mary thistle, holy thistle... Silybum Marianum yields many names, but we like to call it Milk Thistle. It is a member of the Asteraceae family, one of the oldest and thoroughly researched plants in the treatment of liver diseases.

Taste
Milk Thistle has a sweet, yet earthy taste.

Milk Thistle Leaf tea & why people drink it
Milk Thistle Leaf has been used for centuries in various parts of the world to improve a variety of bodily functions and ailments, like liver detoxification, lowering cholesterol, and controlling diabetes. Silymarin is the main active ingredient in milk thistle seeds, containing various fatty acids, including linoleic acid. Silymarin is both an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant which reduces free radical production and lipid peroxidation.

ATTN: Please be aware that this specialty herb may only be available in variants of a pound or half pound and will necessitate 10-15 business days for delivery. Shipped item may alter in color due to its organic nature, rain fall and weather.

Health benefits

  • Protects The Liver Milk thistle is known for its detoxifying effects on the liver thanks to its flavonoid complex called silymarin. A 2017 study confirms that it can help to speed up the healing process in the liver, undoing much of the damage from excessive drinking or other damaging behaviors on the liver, including cirrhosis. It may also prevent conditions like fatty liver syndrome, jaundice, and hepatitis
  • Regulates Cholesterol - It is an anti-inflammatory, helps lower the cholesterol levels in the body, cleanses the blood, and prevents oxidative stress. The silymarin present in it extract improves the low-density lipoprotein (LDL or bad cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides levels in the body
  • Manages Diabetes - The combination of antioxidants, fatty acids, and silibinin milk thistle extract can actually work to regulate insulin levels and maintain even blood sugar levels for people with diabetes or are at risk of developing it

Grown in Europe & hand-packed in the USA.

A very earthly flavor to this tea. Add a little honey and lemon and it is very appealing to the taste buds. It also taste good as an iced tea.
