Environmental & Social Health

Holistic Health covers all aspects of life. Social and Environmentl are 2 aspects of the 6 aspects of health. This is a response to the Facebook LIVE recorded June 1st, 2020.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: is the branch of public health that focuses on the interrelationships between people and their environment, promotes human health and well-being, and fosters healthy and safe communities. All living creatures are effected by their environment. Social health can be a reflection of our environment but it also can have a huge effect on our environment.

Environmental health sciences are all around us: in our food, in our water, in the air we breathe, in the things we encounter everyday.

In this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxl_ZExrYUk, faculty from the University of Michigan Department of Environmental Health Sciences describe the field.

SOCIAL HEALTH: one's ability to form meaningful relationships with other people and interact in healthy, positive ways. The way we connect to the people around us, adapt to different social situations, and experience a sense of belonging all contribute to your social health.

The Social Determinants of Health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live and age. They have a large influence on our health. It also determines health inequities, which is the unfair and avoidable health difference between different groups of people.
